Since I was young, I’ve been learning how to bake cakes from my aunt who loves desserts as much as I do. We both name baking as our hobbies to-do on weekends. I often look up dessert recipes or videos on social media and try making them myself, if it turns out good I am always excited to pack some to be shared with my families and friends. With all the positive feedback and support, I began my online mini home-based baking page in 2019. Presently, I am still baking seasonal desserts or new recipes with the aim to share my passion for desserts with more people. Reflecting on the journey, it was really enjoyable and memorable. Since I’m doing it as part of my hobby, I do not call it a business and it is not my goal to make a profit from it. I am glad to know that many others enjoy my baking. I appreciate the support from my family, friends, and those comeback customers. I am motivated to spread love and positivity through food. I do wish that I’ll still be able to spare time doing some baking as I begin my work-life because baking does help me to distress.

I named my baking page Issyo (一绪)which means togetherness in Japanese. This is in conjunction with my personal aim, which is to bring people together through food. I update seasonal baking during different festivals such as the Chinese New Year, Christmas, Malaysia Independence Day, etc. My baking page has garnered a number of followers and I truly appreciate each and every support. I often seek feedback from my customers too to help me improve my baking skills. I'd say my best-selling item is the Choux Au Craquelin because people always request for more. Seasonally, I try to come out with different flavors that represent the festival itself. For example, On Malaysia Independence Day, I came up with the national food — kaya (coconut jam) flavored choux. My new item did garner attention on social media later a local beverage business that sells local coffee drinks has contacted me for collaboration. Although I started this page for my personal passion and to display my hobby for baking, I also learned lots of new interpersonal skills from experiences like this. I learned about customer service while responding to customers' requests, I also picked up some business knowledge from collaboration opportunities like negotiating on the splitting and such.
