In 2019, my team and I were honored to be nominated for an employer project in collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM). The objective was to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection. As part of this initiative, we organized a fundraising event and successfully raised RM600 in support of NCSM.
This experience stands out as one of the most memorable achievements of my college years. While it was nerve-wracking to present our project directly to the executive levels of NCSM, it was also a golden opportunity to learn, grow, and gain exposure to working with a well-established organization. The project not only sharpened my public speaking and project management skills but also instilled in me a deeper sense of responsibility when engaging with meaningful causes.
Through this collaboration, I was also introduced to the emotional and developmental challenges faced by children living with cancer. Learning how the illness and its treatments affect both their physical growth and emotional well-being gave me valuable insights that connect closely with my field of study. This has inspired me to consider working in this area in the future, to support children with the care and understanding they deserve.
I am grateful to NCSM for entrusting us with this opportunity. The lessons I carried from this project continue to guide me in my journey of becoming an educator with empathy, resilience, and purpose.
