In 2018, I volunteered once again at the Ali de Speranza Famine-30 DIY Camp, where I supported fundraising efforts, camp setup, and guided over 1,000 campers. That year, our camp was honored with the title of “Largest 30-Hour Famine DIY Camp 2018” by World Vision Malaysia, a recognition that affirmed the dedication and teamwork we poured into the event.
Although it was my second consecutive year volunteering, the experience felt entirely new. Each challenge we faced — from problem-solving to handling unexpected situations — was different from the year before. Working closely with my friends, fellow volunteers, and senior committees taught me adaptability, teamwork, and resilience.
This recognition was deeply motivating, but more than that, I am grateful for the trust given to me in guiding campers and contributing meaningfully to the cause. The experience strengthened my leadership and communication skills while reinforcing the importance of service and collaboration.

On the 21st of July 2018, we celebrated the opening ceremony of the Ali de Speranza 8-Hour Kidz Famine and 30-Hour Famine Camp. Our truly respected sponsors and the board of directors of SJKC Perempuan Klang were invited as honored guests to officiate the famine countdown. The sponsors have continuously contributed funds and generously supported the camp with goods year after year, remaining devoted and committed throughout. We are also deeply grateful to the board of directors of SJKC Perempuan Klang, who are always ready to assist us whenever we are in need. These adults have my utmost respect for trusting, supporting, and motivating us, while giving young generations the chance to shine and create meaningful impacts.

On the 22nd of July 2018, we marked the closing of the Ali de Speranza 30-Hour Famine Camp. It was truly the result of everyone’s sweat and tears poured into making the camp a success. I am grateful for the chance to make so many new friends, from the committees to the volunteers and campers alike. I am also thankful for being entrusted with a role here and for the patience of my teammates in accepting my shortcomings and any mistakes along the way. Through this, I learned the value of being an active team player and sharpened my leadership skills in guiding the campers. I sincerely look forward to reuniting with this incredible team again at the next camp. This experience has given me unforgettable memories that will always remain a special part of my youth.

Photography team is also volunteered to contribute to the camp without any wages. This short clip here is one of the highest rating video of Ali de Speranza.
